    As the Risk Officer within AFS Energy you make direct bottom line impact by managing market and credit risks and help the organization grow in a controlled fashion. This within a young, dynamic and fast-growing team located on the former trading floor of Euronext Amsterdam.


    The organization 

    AFS Group (AFS) is a global financial and environmental solution provider. We are specialized in brokering business to business, advice, generating ideas and execution due to the financial instruments (like shares, deposits, bonds, and derivatives) and renewable energy certificates (GO, Green Gas, CO2 and biofuels). AFS also facilitates in-house (regulated) electronic trading platforms.


    With more than 170 FTE, AFS still has a lot of ambitions to grow.  The biggest growth opportunities are in the Renewable Energy markets and inhouse trading platforms. To facilitate this growth AFS is recruiting a highly motivated and ambitious Risk Officer to join the Risk department and closely collaborating with Front Office and the Management Board. The risk function reports to the Chief Financial & Operation Officer together with Finance, Legal, Compliance and Back Office.

    Job requirements

    Tasks and responsibilities:

    • Your main task will be supporting the monitoring and managing of market, credit and operational risks in a highly dynamic and exciting Renewable Commodities Trading environment.

    • You will work closely with the Front office on new trade approvals, perform counterparty credit analysis, manage FX exposure and support adherence to risk policies and requirements.

    • You will drive further automation and implementation of risk management tools based on the latest risk concepts.

    • You will further professionalize the company in Risk awareness and facilitate transparent risk vs reward discussions.

    • You will work closely with the Finance, Legal and Back office teams putting your role in the heart of the company.

    • You will support projects providing further Business Insights and opportunities for further growth.

    • You will report to the risk manager, accelerating your professional development as a risk expert and setting you up to maximize your impact.


    What we expect:

    • Master’s degree in (quantitative) Finance, Econometrics, Maths or similar.

    • Post-grad certifications FRM/PRM/CFA are a plus.

    • Excellent command of Excel. Coding skills in SQL, Python, VBA and Power BI are a plus.

    • 1-4 years of relevant working experience, preferably in an international trading environment.

    • Knowledge of Renewable energy products, physical products (like power, gas, fuels) and/or financial markets is a plus.

    • Excellent analytical, communication and presenting skills.

    • Proactive, precise, ethical and independent.

    • Fluent in English. Any other languages is a plus!
